Cosmetic eye procedures

Our eyes reflect our personality and give our face its expressive force. But with age, we may find that our eyelids droop or sag or that bags appear below our eyes. If these signs of ageing bother you, you may wish to consider cosmetic procedures to enhance the beauty of your eyes.

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic eyelid surgery procedure that lifts and opens the eye. It can be carried out on both the upper and the lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty rejuvenates the eye by removing the excess skin that is sometimes linked to prolapses of subcutaneous adipose tissue. In the case of the lower eyelid, it is this accumulation of fat that causes bagging below the eyes. By removing it, your face will appear refreshed and less tired.
Blepharoplasty is generally carried out under local anaesthesia with sedation, and on an outpatient basis (admission to the clinic in the morning and discharge the same day). This eye-rejuvenating procedure counters the sagging of skin tissues by restoring the natural tautness of the eyelid structures.

Botox injections are used to reduce or even eliminate facial expression lines or wrinkles. Using this technique, tired-looking eyes can be refreshed to achieve a rested and relaxed appearance. The procedure involves a series of targeted injections of Botulinum toxin type A, also known as Botox. This is a protein that is naturally produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium and that induces muscle relaxation. It can be used to relax muscles that have become overly contracted with age.

Prior to any treatment, the physician carries out an in-depth examination of the patient’s facial expressions in order to determine where treatment is required. The procedure lasts around 30 minutes.

Hyaluronic acid injections. These can be used to correct dark under-eye circles, and to fill wrinkles and naso-labial folds. More generally, hyaluronic acid is used to restore or add volume to areas that lack it. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar found naturally in the skin that fills the space between the collagen and the elastin fibres. With age, however, our skin-cells produce less and less hyaluronic acid, and this results in the loss of volume linked to increased facial lines and wrinkles. The procedure is carried out in the consulting room and takes about 15 to 30 minutes.
